No place like this. No time but now.

Be a part of Mountain Cloud’s Abundant Future!

Mountain Cloud relies on the generosity of donors like you. Your gift helps us to provide free, hybrid access to meditation and dharma programs 7 days a week including 11 community meditations, 3 talks/classes, weekly updates to our podcast and youtube channel, an online archive of talks dating back nearly a decade, and accessible scholarships for our retreats.

Right now we are in need of funds for some important “Household Improvements” including the following:

  • New Fridge – $3,750. Our tenzo (cook), Nic needs a new fridge! (Our current fridge is broken and outdated.) We need funding to buy a new commercial fridge that will be more energy efficient and have sufficient storage space for Nic (fewer mid-week shopping trips during sesshin!)
  • The gift of happy knees – $2,400. We plan to replace 24 of our thinner, smaller zabutons with a thicker and wider model (better suited for our taller sitters, and our hard earthen floors).
  • Sun protection in the Zendo – $1,200. The paper-thin shades on the south side of the zendo are simply not enough to cool the zendo against the height of the summer sun. We would like to upgrade to beautiful, much more functional wooden blinds. Don’t worry – you will still get to watch the sunlight move across the floor…

We are also raising money for Phase 1 of our Accessibility Initiative, which includes paving a back driveway and turnaround for more accessible access to our zendo. We need just $1,500 more to complete this project!

Dana for Valerie can be given directly to her at: paypal.me/vforstman

Dana is not tax deductible but is a beautiful way to support our teachers. In Buddhist tradition, students offer dana to the teacher as a show of gratitude.

When I was in residency at Mountain Cloud in 2017, (then, still a “guinea pig” program), I remember walking into the dining hall just as the Board was wrapping up a Strategic Planning Meeting. Folks were in good cheer, still chattering and laughing together as they gathered up their notebooks to clear out the room. On the wall hung several note-riddled poster papers. Among them one stood out – in large capital letters filling up the page, it said, “LET THE DHARMA GUSH”. There was no target date set for that strategic goal, because this is a job that is always underway, never done. Just like our practice.” – Sarah Giffin, Executive Director
